About us

We’re Lewisham Tigers FC. A club at the heart of our community.

We love football.

We run teams for children and young adults aged between 7 to 16 years old – for both boys and girls. Over 200 children play for Lewisham Tiger teams. They represent the rich diversity of South East London – with players from thirty-five schools and twenty-six nations by birth or heritage.

Our players learn the fundamentals of the game in mini-soccer (5v5 and 7v7 football for U7s-U10s) before progressing to junior and youth football (9 v 9 and 11 v 11). Our teams play in two leagues Tandridge and South East London and Kent (SELKENT).

For under 7s the club sponsors Tiny Ballers Soccer School.

The club is run by a group of committed parents, carers and volunteers. We achieved FA Charter Standard status in 2018 and have been reaccredited every year since. Player subscriptions are kept as low as possible to ensure access for all.

Winning is important to us but is not the be all and end all. Our mission is to ensure children and young adults develop a love of the game, grow as a team and have fun.

Our most important responsibility is player welfare. Our coaches are FA accredited and we have a dedicated welfare officer.

We run the club on the ethos of positive play and respect. We demand it of our players and their parents and carers and expect it of our opponents. Glory and disappointment is shared equally among the players. We understand the game and the importance of each position, we teach the importance of team work and emphasise the value to the team of goalkeeping and defending as much as goalscoring.

The club train and play at Abbotshall Healthy Lifestyle centre, Whitefoot lane and Forster Park. During the season training is twice weekly (mid-week and Saturday) with games played on a Sunday.

The season runs from September to July. Trials for the following September are run in April and May.
